About Us
Cyclexperience Ltd started life from a dilapidated stable building as New Forest Cycle Hire Centre on May 1st 1993 with a £3,000 loan from the Prince’s Trust. The business is now one of the most prominent and unique cycle businesses on the South Coast offering 3 retail shops stocking hundreds of cycles and accessories and first class bike repairs from NVQ accredited technicians; a fully integrated on-line shop featuring thousands of product lines and the biggest one-stop Cycle Hire shop in the New Forest with almost 200 models available from our 100ft wooden Cycle Shack in the overflow car park at the nearby Brockenhurst Rail Station.
We have won two prestigious Tourism Excellence Awards and were the second cycle business in Hampshire to be accepted on the Hampshire Trading Standards Buy with Confidence scheme. The business is still family owned and our philosophy is based on providing friendly service at a professional level while still offering high-street prices.
Over 20 people work for Cyclexperience which means we can offer advice on most disciplines of cycling. We have family cyclists with young kids, downhill riders, cross country racers, bmx’ers and even some single speed fanatics. You will find personal service at high street prices in each of the Cyclexperience shops. As an independent business, we always advise buying technical products such as bikes from a specialist shop (not a supermarket) who can assemble and properly set the bike up.
If we can’t answer your questions immediately, we will go out of our way to find the answer. So many people are surprised when we call them back or bother to send an email but it’s never occurred to us that ignorance is a sustainable option when it comes to building relationships with our customers!
We launched our online shop in 2005 and like most modern independent bicycle retailers, internet selling has almost become a necessity for survival in the current retail climate. We have a dedicated web administrator whose prime role is to manage orders and keep information up-to-date. We constantly watch the main bicycle websites to ensure our prices are as competitive as any. If not, our price-match pledge ensures you can guarantee the best prices and the best service on the web.
Please refer to our terms and conditions regarding purchasing bikes on the internet. Unfortunately, we cannot offer the same level of service as if you bought a bike from one of our stores and you will have to decide whether price and choice comes before convenience. If you live in Scotland, it is difficult for us to make minor adjustments on a recently purchased bike!
Our most recent development has been setting up a long-awaited bike hire service on the Isle of Purbeck near Corfe Castle. The cycling there is second to none and the views are spectacular. You can even combine a cycle ride with a trip on Swanage Steam Railway from the same car park we operate from!
If you have any comments on this site or any cycle enquiry in general, please don't hesitate to email or call any of the stores who have exceptionally friendly managers and staff who are prepared to spend sufficient time helping you to make your purchasing decision (unless it is 5.30pm on a Bank Holiday weekend!).
